“ As someone who's never been to this part of Rockwall, it felt like I stepped into a Texas "Stars Hollow". I visited with a friend on a Saturday night and this bar instantly felt whimsical and cozy. I tried an iced chai latte with oat milk, the Texas Haze cocktail, spinach and artichoke dip, and the classic waldorf salad. The drinks were excellent. The books and records are all for sale excluding the top shelves of each. I can't wait to return! ”
“ Really, this place deserves 3 , not 4, but I really hate to do that to a locally owned place. Nothing was bad, also nothing was particularly good. It was COLD in there like their heater was broken. I had to wrap my husband's coat around my legs for warmth. We started with the lamb meatballs. They were good, but our toasted sourdough was burnt. We both had a Caesar salad. It was smothered in cheap grated parmesan cheese (like the Kraft kind in the plastic shaker) that overpowered the lettuce and dressing. A shredded or shaved parm would really have elevated it and made it more edible. My husband had the steak frites for his entree. The steak was pretty tough despite being cooked medium. I had the scallops. The presentation was nice, but they didn't have much flavor. I also ordered the garlic mashed potatoes. They were not good at all, very blah. The star of the show was the turtle cheesecake we got to go and ate at home. Our service was like our food, not bad , but also not good. The decor is adorable. The restrooms have doors that are made to look like sliding bookshelves. ”
“ Good brunch. The calamari is different from what I expected, but I enjoyed it. The quality was pretty good! For lunch time, they got us seated very quickly and had really nice staff. The coffee / matcha drinks were all okay, so I don't recommend that unless you really want caffeine. The matcha flavors were very interesting. The vibe was really great. If you're okay with fighting for parking, it's worth a trip. Definitely a nice place to catch up with a friend. ”
“ Delicious and thoughtfully made food. Lamb meatballs had a very tasty tomato sauce and the roasted chicken's skin was crispy enough to pass as fried! Ambience was beautiful and rustic, very becoming of a bistro on the square. Only complaint is the priciness of the coffee. Between the cafe, the restaurant and all the seating arrangements, there's too many options to allow for the full experience in a single trip, meaning we'll just have to keep coming back! ”
“ Been looking for a place like this Vinyls, books, food, drinks, and coffee - LOVE IT! If you're looking for brunch or dinner, this is such a good option. I love the book store/restaurant concept so much, it reminded me of DC! The restaurant is spacious, and they have a bar and patio as well! My family and I went for brunch here on a Sunday. We ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes, French toast stack, breakfast sandwich, smoke salmon Benedict, steak and eggs, and the turkey/chicken club. Everything tasted really yummy, and the buildout of the restaurant looks so good. I really enjoyed the bookshelf bathroom doors, amazing! I kind of wish they were a little more heavy on the bookstore side, but beggars can't be choosers - I'll take it!! I definitely want to get back and try the pasta! Oh yeah - GET THE BREAKFAST POTATOES! ”
“ We started with calamari - amazing!!! Really fresh - they bread it themselves. I had the roasted chicken - it was good - but the mashed potatoes were even better. My husband ordered a pasta dish which he enjoyed. Portions were more than ample - we both know what we are having for lunch tomorrow. They have tempting desserts, but we are too full. Nice atmosphere and super staff and service. Thank you. ”
“ First time trying their brunch. We sat on this nice patio enjoying mimosas and some great food. Service is always on point when I'm there. ”
“ Drive to Rockwall NOW, and eat at Fable & Fire...the cutest Book Shop Bistro with phenomenal food, a pastry/coffee counter and a full bar. Chef Matt creates deelish dishes with the highest quality ingredients. Trust me, I tried nearly all of them! The entire waitstaff is welcoming and friendly. And the decor!! Vanessa runs the place and is the mastermind behind this quaint locale that you won't ever want to leave. Good thing they serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and everything in between! You'll lose yourself in the whimsy that is both imaginative and comfortable. Even the hallway with the restrooms had me stopped and staring. Fable & Fire is perfect for date night, girls' brunch, business lunches, working remotely, or a cozy experience with the whole family! Great location right downtown ”
“ After an incredibly long day in the office, my boyfriend and I finished up work a bit early (I did, not him.. I deserved a glass of wine), and came across a cute dainty and expressive/art deco area in downtown Rockwall. We found Fable and Fire and I eyeballed the mussels and Cesar with salmon immediately. My boyfriend on the other hand was loving the sound of a wild mushroom flatbread. Everything was exquisite and surpassed what we even thought our taste buds would already obviously, love. Starting with the food: The mussels.. wow. So many adjectives to be used here. Mouthwatering, savory, tasty, delightful, décidant. Our previous server (didn't catch her name or I forgot it, I blame the wine lol), recommended us extra bread with the mussels, I'm on a slight no bread diet, but from what I tried it was so good I doused the bread in the base broth. Wish I drank it to be honest. Next we had the whipped ricotta, it was served cold and had pistachios and a honey base under the ricotta which gave it a subtle twist of sweetness. For our main dishes I devoured the cesar with salmon and my man enjoyed his highly craved wild mushroom flatbread. Next, the service and ambiance: The service was very attentive and insightful. Tyler ended up taking care of us after the shift swap and both her as well as the other young woman, were great. Ambiance was overall, welcoming and gave off some kind of Harry Potter vibe (in other words, dark academia). Can't wait to come by again! Thanks Tyler! ”
